London Awards for Art and Performance 2010

London is the major Art Capital of the world and these awards and associated competitions bring together and celebrate the many artists and performers who live, work in and visit this city. The awards recognise artists at the forefront of their art.

Presented to the Winners and Commended Artists at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel, Aldwych, on Thursday, August 26.

London Art Award

From Deptford to Hoxton, from Richmond to Hampstead, London has the best contemporary artists in the world. The competition will feature shortlisted artists in an exhibition at the Bedfordbury gallery in Covent Garden. Inspired by the phrase: 'Quick, before we come to our senses'. Details

 

London New Poetry Award
[first time]

London has a long and rich history in poetry.. Shakespeare, Blake, Eliot .. it's a wonderful place to run an award recognising great poetry. Details

 

London Jazz Vocalist
London Jazz Instrumentalist

The Fringe is all about art that pushes the boundaries, and jazz is always pushing the boundaries of music. Details

 

London New Comedy Award

London is the best place in the world to be a comedian, and a good place to win a Comedy Award. All comedians are welcome whether you live/work in London or not. Details

 

London New Music Award

London is the Music capital of Europe. We'll be looking for the best new artists/bands. Details


London Photography Award

This city has everything you can imagine and your photographs can show it. All are welcome, from the amateur to the professional. The competition will feature shortlisted artists in an exhibition at the Bedfordbury gallery in Covent Garden. Photographs inspired by: 'Quick, before we come to our senses'. This competition is inspired by the same phrase as the Short Fiction Award and the Visual Art Award. Details


London Short Fiction Award

London is an extraordinary place to live in. It has, and continues to inspire, countless stories from excellent writers. We’ll be running a competition to find the best writers among you, and will be accepting short stories, no more than a 1000 words. This award ties in with the Visual Art award and the Photography Award. Details

London Theatre Writing Award

This Award gives a platform to the most promising piece of new writing or devised work to have arisen from a writer/s or theatre group. It is intended for writers/actors to showcase their work to a large audience and to the industry. Details


London 48 Hrs Short Film Award

Now this really will test the creative and technical skills of filmmakers. Writers, crew, actors, will be given a title and a genre to work from, and have to write, audition,rehearse, shoot and edit a movie in 48 hours. Kindly supported by the Roxy Bar and Screen, a well-known independent film house. Details

 

London Best Play
[first time]

London is the theatre capital of the world. This city has the best playwrights, actors, directors and theatre professionals. It also has a great theatre audience. The audience decides the best play of 2010. Details
