Unveiling of 5 metre-tall sculpture formed of glacial boulders by world-renowned artist duo Fischli/Weiss

The unveiling will be attended by the artist, Peter Fischli. The work has been commissioned by the Serpentine Gallery.
Rock on Top of Another Rock is the first and the only public sculpture by the artists to be presented in the UK and one of the last works they jointly conceived before David Weiss’s untimely death last year.
Also on display, a group of photographs of Fischli/Weiss's Equilibres.Quiet Afternoon series, which were made between 1984 and 1987 and a group of small, handmade scupltures that provide a witty counterpoint to the collossal boulders installed outside the Gallery.
The artists have exhibited extensively worldwide, with solo exhibitions at Tate Modern, London (2006), the Centre Pompidou, Paris (1992) and Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (1988). The artists was chosen to represent Switzerland at the Venice Biennale in 2003, where they won the Golden Lion prize.
Fischli/Weiss Rock on Top of Another Rock is curated by Hans-Ulrich Obrist, co-director of the Serpentine Gallery. It is part of a series of occasional installations and exhibitions of sculpture in Kensington Gardens that has included Thomas Schutte’s United Enemies in 2012, Turning the World Upside Down by Anish Kapoor in 2011 and The Sculpture Show in 1983 presented with the Hayward Gallery.
