| What you do | |
You can use the London Fringe site any time to promote your show and sell tickets. The London Fringe runs all year. There is no selection process as everyone is welcome. If you have a show and/or event you would like to promote please submit a show here first. If you submit a show you will have your own show page, can list your events on this site and can sell tickets for them. Please note, your events will only appear in the front page listing if they have a venue or site. This is so people know there is something to go to. Here is an example of how to promote your show, and here are examples of the form you fill in and the form you use to enter your events. You can submit as many shows and events as you like. We use a simple form to describe your show to audiences and potential promoters/producers and venue management. Submitting a show costs just £19 each. This covers the period from now, through the Festival Fringe in August, to the end of February 2011. It does not commit you to putting on any event/performance. Please note the London Fringe organisation markets and promotes the London Fringe and the Festival as a whole and is not responsible for finding artists and performers venues. Once you submit a show you will have access to the details of venues listed on-site. Please contact them directly. If your venue is not listed, please let us know and we will add it to the site. |
|
| What we do | |
We manage the press and promotion of the London Fringe and Festival each year. We also provide information on-site for artists/performers/promoters to deal direct with the venue management. The London Fringe organisation is the central point of contact for all shows/events. It manages this website which contains all the information to do with the London Fringe from individual participant details, to show and event listings and venue information, to national press contacts. We register venues ourselves. There is no charge for this. We welcome any space - from boats on the river, to pubs, to hotels on the embankment - that could be used for a show or performance. |
|
| Artists/Performers/Promoters and Venues | |
The way the London Fringe works is that all participants deal direct with venues. The London Fringe organisation does not take part in this and has no responsibility for what goes on between the participant and the venue. Only shows with events/performances are listed on the front page of the site. This is so people visiting the site know there is something on they can see. Please contact the venue to discuss your requirements. Your box office and the fee you pay the venue, if any, is entirely between you and the venue. If your venue is not listed please let us know and we will include it on site. We'll put a map link to the venue, too. |
|
| Online Events Entry | |
The London Fringe goes on all year. If you have a show/event coming up, even before the Festival Fringe in August, you can list it on-site. You will need to submit your show first. This costs just £19 each. Here is a show, and here are examples of the form you fill in and the form you use to list your events on the site. You can submit as many shows as you like. You will also be able to sell tickets from this site and from wegottickets.com, but you will need to have confirmed your venue before you can do so. |
|
| We will not have a Printed Programme | |
| We are a 'green' Festival - as in 'paper costs trees'.
Please note, we do not print programs. They have to be designed, printed and distributed and that will takes a lot of money. It's probably not worth it, anyway, in these days of easy web access on both desktop and mobile phones - go to http://londonfestivalfringe.com/showsandevents/ on your mobile phone and you'll see. |
|
| What's the deadline for being part of the Fringe? The Festival? | |
There is no deadline. You can take part in the London Fringe at any time. It never stops. The Festival occurs once a year in August. Again, there is no deadline, you can join the Festival at the time. |
|
| How can I book tickets for a show in the Festival Fringe? | |
You can book tickets for any events listed on this site that has a 'Buy' text/graphic next to it. |
|
| How do I find a venue? | |
You will probably need a venue, although some may wish to hold street performances. A venue can be anything, a pub, club, theatre, a foyer space in a building. Please note the London Fringe cannot find a venue for you. You will need to do this yourself. We're adding venues to the list as they become available. |
|
| Can anything be a Fringe venue, or does it have to be one on your list? | |
Anything can be a Fringe venue - as long as whoever it belongs to doesn't mind! Unusual venues welcome - just let us know! We are always looking for venues. Please get in touch if you have one and want to be included. |
|
| Do you have to pay to use any of the venues? | |
| All venues are different - some charge a hire fee, some take a percentage of the door, some are free. You will need to contact the venue and discuss an arrangement. Please note the Fringe organisation do not book acts or venues. | |
| Advertising | |
| If you are a participant in the Fringe, either as artist/performer or venue, you can advertise on the site. Current rates are here. | |
| We're looking for reviewers | |
| Show reviews are important as they help build an audience, and give valuable feedback to artists and performers.
We've set up a simple way for artists/performers to request show reviews. The page is here: http://www.londonfestivalfringe.com/general/reviews/ We are always looking for good reviewers. Please get in touch, or come along to one of our Fringe Club nights at the Phoenix Artists Club. We will need to meet you first. No previous experience necessary, but, you will need to be able to write 300 words on the show you review in a balanced and entertaining way. The review will be on our front page and archived on-site. It will need to meet our editorial standards. The way it works is that as show review requests come in, we'll e-mail them once a week to our list of reviewers. The reviewers get in touch with the contact person at the show. If the review is agreed between them, the reviewer picks up two complimentary tickets at the door on the night of performance. It's all done between reviewer and performer/promoter. We don't get involved. It's not perfect but it is useful to both reviewer and performer. |
