London Dance Award Nomination Rosemary Lee: 'One second, the performer is raptly lost in thought; the next, they’re fixating on some distant horizon, and then coiled up, ear pressed to the ground as if listening for some distant creature or trying to melt into the earth. It’s both gentle and intense, necessarily slight, a little fey, and surprisingly beguiling.'

The Telegraph:“Barely three minutes long, each of these physical haikus seems a miniature voyage of inner and outer discovery. One second, the performer is raptly lost in thought; the next, they’re fixating on some distant horizon, and then coiled up, ear pressed to the ground as if listening for some distant creature or trying to melt into the earth. It’s both gentle and intense, necessarily slight, a little fey, and surprisingly beguiling.”
Rosemary Lee is particularly well known in the industry for her site-specific shows involving dancers of all ages and levels of expertise (or not as it so happens). Dance Umbrella and Greenwich Dance commissioned the choreographer/performer to create Common Dance in 2009, the success of which led on to last year’s large scale Dance Umbrella and Rosemary’s component, Square Dances (reviewed above). The overall event involved over 200 dancers across 4 parks in London. Rosemary has both performed and created for over two decades working across media, and often for film. She won a Time Out/Dance Umbrella London Performance Award in 1991 and is a Rescen Associate Artist. Rosemary also regularly works with children and lectures across the UK.
