London Jazz Award Nomination Trevor Watts and Veryan Weston: 'A mark of invention pervades throughout, as the duo fuses sublime persuasions, inverted theme-building jaunts, and mesmeric passages with fleeting melodies and rhythmical dynamics.'

All About Jazz on 5 More Dialogues: “A mark of invention pervades throughout, as the duo fuses sublime persuasions, inverted theme-building jaunts, and mesmeric passages with fleeting melodies and rhythmical dynamics.

Highlighted by a manifold approach to the program, the duo aligns a throng of angular discourses, generating an intimate, probing and somewhat mischievous sequence of dialogues on ‘Exchanged Frequencies,’ abetted by jovial mimicking and edgy overtones.”

With Trevor Watts on Soprano and Alto Saxophones, and Veryan Weston on piano, the collaborating duo brought about the much acclaimed follow-up album to 6 Dialogues last year. Trevor is a largely self-taught free-improviser from York, and Veryan hails from Cornwall. The two have been playing together since the 80s, and have toured Europe and America, but it has in fact been a ten year gap in between the two albums. Watts and Weston both show a propensity for completely free improvisation, and also the inclusion of composed elements to their work, so it is perhaps their long-standing professional relationship and mutual understanding of these alternating preferences that can be accredited for such inspiring jazz creations.
