London Music Award nomination Kate Bush: '.. an LP that finds a universe of emotions.' [Rolling Stone on 50 Words for Snow]

Nov 24
Telegraph review: “50 Words for Snow should be heard standing alone at icy window panes, gazing out. Its seven long, snow-themed songs swirl around a delicate core of Bush and her piano. The dreamy, drifting mood and subtle melodic motifs recall The Ninth Wave, the watery-themed second side of The Hounds of Love (1985)... From there, we glide into the haunted landscape of Lake Tahoe and on to Misty, which is an adult take on the romantic flight and sharp loss of Raymond Briggs’s children’s classic The Snowman: an icy lover melts in the singer’s mouth, leaving her abandoned in soaking sheets.”

Despite being a star since the late 70s, Bush’s songwriting prowess has more recently been recognised with an Ivor Novello Award in 2002. Throughout her career she has also been nominated for three Grammys and a BRIT award. 50 Words For Snow is Kate’s tenth album, and has been on release since November 21st. In that short time, she has received outstanding reviews all round, with Rolling Stone describing it as “an LP that finds a universe of emotions”.
