The Stage: “This thrilling and disturbing production by Edward Dick brilliantly balances emotional realism with the soaring fantasy of the text, and has a superb cast... A marvellous evening.”

The Public Reviews: “The descriptions of human slaughter and animal mutilation are visceral. And proving that sound can sometimes be as, or even more, horrific than vision, the crunching of cockroaches being chewed on stage and the snapping in half of a finger bone, had a seasoned audience gasping... Edward Dick effectively tackles the play’s lengthy monologues, cleverly coaxing as much physical movement as well as vocal nuance, into their delivery. And Danielle Tarento has again produced a show with outstanding production values all round. If you can stomach it, see it.”

Edward Dick kick-started his theatrical career as Associate Director with the acclaimed Cheek By Jowl Theatre Company, after having studied English at Oxford. In 2005 he won the Critics’ Circle Most Promising Newcomer Award and Time Out Theatre Performance of the Year for his Southwark Playhouse production of ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore. Before his wonderfully received revival of Pitchfork Disney, he directed another of Philip Ridley’s plays The Fastest Clock in the Universe, starring Jaime Winstone at the Hampstead Theatre. Edward also directs for film, and has several features currently in development.
