Telegraph review of Reasons To Be Pretty: “In Tom Burke’s delightfully wry, wisecracking performance there is a moving sense that generosity of spirit can sometimes prevail over baser emotions. And Michael Attenborough’s sharp and imaginatively designed production, wittily punctuated by the pop songs of Queen, is also blessed with a heart-wrenching turn from the wonderful Billie Piper as the pregnant wife (and supermarket security guard) who suspects that her husband is betraying her.”
The Tony nominated play deals with body image, and recently began its London run at The Almeida, where artistic director Michael Attenborough has taken the directorial helm himself. The Guardian also praises his work as “swift, nuanced and precise”. The Son of Lord Richard Attenborough, Michael also sits on the board at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and was principal associate director at the RSC for over ten years.
