Telegraph: "The familiar sight of animals stalking one another for food has been filmed countless times for nature documentaries, but Frozen Planet is a visual feast giving access to a world beyond the imagination. We witnessed the sheer beauty of wildlife at the remote high latitudes with jaw-dropping images of white wolves savaging migrating birds and devouring arctic hares."
The real hook of this series is it's poignancy. As Attenborough tells us time and time again, most of these wonders have only just been discovered and very soon, due to global warming, they may be gone. Some of the more recent Attenborough shows had begun to lose a little of their informative weight, instead feeling like a cinematographers wet dream. There's still plenty of that aspect in Frozen Planet, but it nevertheless has an incredible, tangible, richness to it that makes it stand out from other programs like it.
