London TV Award nomination Absolutely Fabulous: '.. returns with a careless, drunken swagger, gleefully tearing into 2011 with as much gusto and insight as it had in the nineties. The New York Times: "Twenty years ago the heroines of “Absolutely Fabulous” were wacky heralds of a new age of extravagance. Now they are the last blinkered women in the bunker, hoarding designer shoes and awaiting an Evite back to the glamorous life. They don’t belong there, and that’s what makes them so welcome."
Christmas on the BBC has been rather special this year, a colourful selection of treats for all the family. The return of Absolutely Fabulous is like finding a particularly old chocolate liquor wrapped in garish pink, sure it's probably been buried at the bottom of the box for years, but goddamnit it's alcohol. After about five years absence, Ab Fab returns with a careless, drunken swagger, gleefully tearing into 2011 with as much gusto and insight as it had in the nineties. It hasn't missed a beat, and the fact that the stars, Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, are so much older now actually works in the shows favour. Despite it's sporadic life, Absolutely Fabulous' status as one of the greatest comedies of all time remains untarnished. Photo BBC
